Stephanie Lackner

The Jeep Wrangler navigation feature is among the features that would attract you to this high end, multi purpose car. It is one aspect of the car that remains consistent in the face of the wide reaching modifications that have transformed this car into one of the leading SUV models both on and off the road. This is not to dispute the fact that changing times have also called for adaptations and new features in the Jeep Wrangler navigation to ensure that the car is easy to maneuver on different types of terrain.

If you are thinking of how effective the Jeep Wrangler navigation system is, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the extent to which the manufacturer has gone to make this car user friendly. It is a car where you sit behind the wheel and are fully aware of your positioning, not just on the road but also in relation to the environment around you. One of the features that enhances the ease of navigation in this vehicle is the ‘electronic stability program’ that helps you to maintain the vehicle’s direction. Although it is a navigation facility, it goes further to improve the vehicle’s ability to conform to different road surfaces thus making it a multifunctional application. In a way, this also increases your safety outlook and that of any other occupants in the car.

Furthermore, the navigation structure is ever active always guiding you in your handling of the car. It assists you to not only keep the car on the road but also stay on course. Any unplanned or unintended deviation will most definitely register on the navigation set enabling you to retrace your route but also reclaim the right course and keep moving in the right direction. This feature will come in handy for you if you are driving your Jeep Wrangler in unfamiliar territory or are facing a route or terrain that is yet to be defined.

As a potential customer you will no doubt be impressed with the position of the Jeep Wrangler navigation system directly above the center stack. This strategic placement, which also features the electronic stability program, makes the system not only easy to access but also simple in its usage. Furthermore, its direct location above the steering wheel next to the other features such as the stereo makes it self-imposing and able to remind you when the situation is getting out of hand and the need for immediate modification. It is also serves to enhance the internal decor in the Jeep Wrangler thus enhancing its physical appeal to you.

The effectiveness of the Jeep Wrangler navigation feature has a boost from the vehicle’s flexibility features and physique. The Jeep has several retractable features such as the sunroof, the side doors and half doors. This reinforces the vehicle’s clear outlook thus helping you to maintain full awareness of your surroundings. The vehicle is also fitted with multiple sensors that will alert you on the upcoming features on the road such as sharp bends, bridges, and road intersections well in advance. They also monitor all the movement of traffic on the road thus helping you to respond appropriately by slowing down, accelerating, applying emergency breaks or making any other necessary adjustments to maintain you’re own and other occupants’ safety and comfort.

Alexander Sutton

When searching for your next car purchase, you might start to consider a Jeep Wrangler. Which is good! There are many reasons to purchase a Jeep Wrangler, and even though you might not be an off-roading enthusiast or an outdoors person, there are plenty of pros of owning a Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler handles well on all sorts of terrain, including pavement, icy pavement, and snow covered pavement. If live in an area that sees all sorts of weather systems, from blizzards to hail to thunder storms, then a Jeep Wrangler can be a very good choice. The other pros of owning a Jeep Wrangler include the size and weight of the vehicle. Jeep Wranglers are small enough that they can get into tight areas, including parking spots. Because there are so many Jeeps on the road, and Jeeps have been a part of American life for the past sixty years, the spare parts are plentiful and cheap. This makes repairs very simple, and you don’t have to hunt around your area for any sort of specialty mechanic that’ll charge an arm and a leg for hard-to-find parts. Along those lines, Jeeps are extremely durable, and they have a reputation for not breaking down. They also have a very high resale value, which means you’re getting a very good value for your dollar, even if you buy a Jeep used.

Jeep Wranglers also have a very large range of options and aftermarket items for modification and customization. This means that one of the pros of owning a Jeep Wrangler is that you can customize it to reflect your personality, needs, and interests.

Chris Pierce

Most people who go out and purchase a Jeep do not want their vehicle to look as though it were straight off the lot. Jeep owners are well known for adding a personal touch to their vehicles. There are many Jeep accessories that allow a Jeep owner to add a personal touch to their vehicles and are functional at the same time. For Jeep enthusiasts, these are the type of accessories to own. In the following article, we will review information about Jeep accessories that can be stylish and Jeep accessories that are functional.

A good functional Jeep accessory to invest in is a soft top window roll. If you are the owner of a Jeep with a soft top, a window roll is an excellent accessory choice. The window roll will allow you to store the quarter and rear windows on the board of your Jeep, keeping them safe at all times. When done with the windows, you need only to roll them up between the layers of felt and then insert them into the bag, which is made of nylon and has a strap and buckle configuration.

Mirror relocation brackets are good for those who own later models of Jeep. On these later models of Jeep, the doors can be removed for whatever reason, but when the doors are removed, so are the side mirrors. Mirror relocation brackets can solve this mirror problem. With these brackets, you can take the side mirrors off of the doors and mount them on the windshield frame by using the existing holes. This means that there is no drilling required of you.

Grab handles are another great accessory for any Jeep. Not only are grab handles stylish, but they are extremely functional, especially in a Jeep. You can find grab handles with comfort grips so that your passengers are holding on in comfort. You can also find these grab handles with velcro and straps, which make for the utmost safety.

Matthew Rimcrest

It’s a jeep thing; even if you don’t own a jeep, you know of the cult that surrounds the name. From spunky beach-town cruisers to rock crawling monsters, Jeeps are without a doubt the most capable and modifiable vehicles on the planet. If you’re curious about the different paths you can take with your jeep, then this guide is for you.

Let’s say you just picked up a canary yellow 4-door jeep from the local dealer. Heck, you probably got a great deal on it, considering the financial trouble that Chrysler is facing. You got the basic package, avoiding any over-priced dealer add-ons, but there are a couple things you are going to need to make the new Wrangler compliment your lifestyle.

First things first, get a top for it! Most Jeeps come without a roof, so unless you live on a warm tropical island that never sees any rain, you’ll need something to cover it up. There are a few different options and your choice will be driven the local climate. If you live in an area with 4 seasons, from sunshine to snowfall, you’ll want probably want a hard top. Jeep hard tops have better insulation and offer better vehicle security, but can be cumbersome to remove and store. If winters aren’t too harsh or you don’t drive that much in the winter, a soft top can suffice. Jeep soft tops are a better choice for most people as they can be removed by one person, are easily stored and offer fairly good protection from the elements. If you live in a climate that sees rainfall a few days of the year and are not worried about thieves stealing things out of your Jeep, a bikini top is your best choice. Jeep bikini tops share similar form and function to their bathing suit cousins; they offer maximum exposure while providing a little protection to those vital areas you don’t want to get sunburned. They are easy to store and even easier to install; tie one on and you’re ready for a day of fun in the sun.

If you choose to forgo a jeep top, you’ll definitely want to pick up a set of jeep seat covers. The sun can be a cruel mistress and her UV rays can destroy your seats in just a few short years. If you bought your Jeep used and the seats came sans-fabric, you might want to consider replacing them with an aftermarket set of jeep seats, specially designed to keep you and your occupants planted inside the cab. If your jeep came without doors, do yourself a favor and avoid a lawsuit by getting a pair of tubular jeep doors; they look cool, protect you from falling out and let you see any rocks that your tires might be grappling with. Speaking of tires, jeep suspension kits are a must have if you plan to do any amount off-roading.

From front and rear diffs to lift kits and fender flares meant to house 35″ mudders, the options are near limitless. If you plan to go on some big excursions, make sure to have a proper spare tire mount with an extra can of gas. The last thing you want is to be stranded in the wilderness stuck in a rut somewhere with a flat. If you do get stuck, at least make sure to have some tunes jamming to break the silence while you wait for backup. But let’s face it; Jeep did a half-arse job with their choice of stereo equipment.

Those 4″ dash speaker just don’t cut it if you drive a vehicle that is an open-air roof 99% of the time. You’re going to need some decent watts if you want to rock out proper. Jeep sound bars are a great way to direct crisp audio to your ears while utilizing the roll bar as a choice mounting location. Toss a sub in the back and you’re ready to walk up that Stairway to Heaven.

Matthew Keegan

Besides the Wrangler, no other name is best equated with the Jeep brand than Cherokee, a model that has led Jeep for the past twenty-five years. Now called the Grand Cherokee, this award winning SUV appeals to the person who wants luxury as well as off-road capability although the Wrangler is best suited for the trail stomping driver.

Sunk By SUV Sales

Like every other manufacturer selling sport utility vehicles these days, parent Chrysler LLC has seen a huge drop off in Jeep Grand Cherokee sales to the tune of a 48% decrease for July 2008 over the same period in 2007. This unprecedented drop has hit Chrysler the most as the company has long been dependent on trucks and SUVs for the overwhelming majority of their sales.

Despite the bad news, Chrysler has big plans for the Grand Cherokee when the 2011 model is released in 2010. According to company reports, Chrysler will invest $1.8 billion retooling its Jefferson North Assembly Plant (Detroit) to build the next generation Grand Cherokee as well as several new models. The side benefit of this investment is that Chrysler expects that the beleaguered Motor City plant will need 400 new workers.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Though Chrysler hasn’t shared all of the news yet regarding the proposed Grand Cherokee, they have said the following:

The Grand Cherokee will ride on a car-based platform instead of on a truck platform, much in the way that today’s crossover vehicles are built. Lighter materials a slightly smaller body will mean that the model will see noticeable improvements over its current 15/19 mpg numbers. A V6 engine will power the new Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee will still be 4×4 capable, but expect that this will mean light duty off-roading at best.

The Not So Grand Cherokee

Chrysler says that the Grand Cherokee name will be retained for the new model, though purists may argue that what is being served up is something far less grand. Chrysler, like every other car manufacturer, is dealing with the permanency of high fuel costs and what the consumer wants will ultimately dictate what each car company must build.

(Source: Chrysler LLC)

James C

When it comes to Jeeps one of the most common questions asked is, “What size tires can I fit on my Jeep?” If you have asked that question or if you intend on putting larger tires on your Jeep you should give this article a read. It will help you make your decision on what tire to buy for your stock Jeep.

There are three models of Jeep Wranglers, the YJ, TJ and JK. The YJ which were made between 1987 and 1995 are best identified by the square headlights and leaf spring suspension. If you have a YJ your best bet without a lift is a 30 x 9.5 inch tire. Next there is the TJ which was made from 1997 to 2006. TJs are identified by the return to round headlights and is the first model to use a coil spring suspension. They have a little more clearance so you can therefore go with a 31 x 10.5 inch tire with no problems. You might have to adjust the steering stops if you keep the stock wheels but that is an easy procedure. (Do a search for “jeep steering stop adjustment”). Finally you have the newest JK version which were built between 2007 and the present. JKs have an even larger wheel opening as well as an increased wheel base and slightly wider stance. JK’s can easily run a 32″ tire and even a 33″ tire with the right wheels.

So there it is. Those are the basic tire sizes you can fit on stock Wranglers. Of course you should use this as a general guideline only. Consult a tire professional before investing the money in wheels and tires if you are unsure about what tire will fit.

Samuel Crasnick

The first thing that many Jeep owners want to do is lift their vehicle. Lift kits are available that will raise the Jeep anywhere from an inch to over five inches depending on the intended use and, of course, amount of money available. These might be installed simply to allow clearance for over-sized tires, enhancing the Jeep’s appearance, or allow better offroading capabilities by providing more space between the bottom of the vehicle and whatever obstacles it may encounter on the track or off the road entirely.

As opposed to just lifting a Jeep, some owners may opt for adjustable spring spacers. These are great because they can be installed and adjusted without removing any suspension components from the vehicle, enabling the owner to increase ride height in minutes without sacrificing ride quality on longer trips. Good spacers will barely change the spring rate at all, even on stock springs. Spring spacers are often a cheaper alternative to installing a lift kit or taller suspension coils, though they may cost more in the long run as the stock coil springs and shocks may wear faster.

Control arms are another often swapped piece on the Jeep TJ. The aftermarket bushings on replacement control arms are often superior to those from the factory which means they will last longer and stay tighter. If a TJ owner has started noticing odd squeaking noises coming from the front end of their vehicle at every bump and dip, it’s fairly likely that their control arm bushings are worn out and need to be replaced. Adjustable control arms are also available, though some owners will choose to just have their control arms custom made to their own specifications.

After modifying the suspension of their TJs, all enthusiasts will eventually face the need to replace their shocks. From economy cars to pickup trucks, all vehicles eventually need a set of new shocks or struts, and Jeeps are certainly no exception. Although most aftermarket suspension parts will work with stock components, they will often cause them to wear faster. Shocks are especially prone to this as, when the Jeep is lifted, the shocks stay further extended than normal. Combine this with a Jeep owner’s tendency to drive in places where there is no pavement, and stock shocks can have a very short lifespan indeed. To address this, many aftermarket shops offer shocks of varying lengths that are designed specifically for lifted vehicles. This will improve the on-road ride of an already modified vehicle dramatically, as well as improve the Jeep’s characteristics off the road.

Pat Caymus

Pimp My Ride-or I Mean, My Truck

Do you feel like you’re old convertible, jeep, or even huge truck needs some pimping? You basically don’t have to scram. There are far too many choices that you can absolutely pick. These are called aftermarket accessories.

Aftermarket Racks

One of the most common problems in trucks, and even any other type of vehicle, is space. It seems like there’s no area that will ever suffice your needs. But before you get mad and wish that there will be a car manufacturer who’s open to building much larger vehicles, there are a number of aftermarket racks that can give you ample storage for the many things that you are probably going to transport, especially if you’re going in a very long trip.

The aftermarket racks will give the extension your trunk needs. All you have to do is to take way your backseat and set up the trunk. This way, you can have more space at the back of your truck, particularly when you have a Jeep.

If you’re truck has its own hard top, you can get yourself a rack basket that reminds you of Safari. It will surely make your jeep ultrafashionable; what’s more, it can contain loads of cargo.

Aftermarket Winch

Let’s face it, you enjoy it when you’re traveling in rough terrain. It gives you a sense of hype, not to mention that it’s going to be such a fulfilling experience if you can escape the mud, rocks, and slopes. But one of the biggest problems when it comes to such travel or off-roading is that you have all the probability of getting stuck. That’s definitely okay if you have your friends with you. You can simply ask your buddy to come down and help you pull the Jeep or truck that has been buried in the mud. But what if it’s only you? That’s why it’s very important that you bring with you an aftermarket winch.

If you’re going to pick up a winch, it may be a good idea if you go for one that has a wire rope as long as 125 feet. It should be able to wound your motor and can pull up as much as 9,000 pounds. You’ll be surprised on how fast you will remove yourself from your place.

Aftermarket Light Bar

Whether you like it or not, there will definitely be time when you have to travel when your environment’s totally dark. That is the time when the sun is down or that stars and moon start to show up. However, it’s also possible that you can drive around your truck without any source of light. What if you hit yourself and your truck to a tree? Of course, you can’t blame the plant for your unfortunate situation.

There’s a good way on how to prevent that. You can just install or mount an aftermarket light bar such as Maxi. Besides protecting the front side of your truck from getting damaged after the collision, it will also save you much time and effort as there’s no need for you to drill them. All you have to do is to get rid of the torque bolts, which you can find at the half side of the top portion of your truck’s windshield hinge, install the light bar, and then return the torque bolts. Sounds easy, doesn’t it?
Aftermarket Covers

When you’re traveling, and especially if you have an open portion of your vehicle, it’s very important that you can ensure that they are kept safe, especially from the harsh elements. You also need something to hold everything down. That’s where the aftermarket covers come in. One of the most preferred choices can be the Tonneau covers. They are also highly valued because you can easily tuck them or put them in storage when they’re no longer in use.

What are you waiting for? Pimp up your ride and add style and more functionality to your well-loved truck.

Chris Pierce

Jeeps are well known for being rugged, off-road vehicles. Even if you buy a Jeep brand new, you will start to notice the wear and tear on your Jeep parts if you take your vehicle into rugged terrain on a regular basis. When the time to replace these pieces comes around, you should only be using the best products. In the following article, we will review some important information about using the best Jeep parts.

When you buy a Jeep, you can rest assured that the parts on that particular vehicle will be able to take on rough terrain for some time before needing replacement. During this time, you will be able to simply service your Jeep without having to replace them. However, there will come a time that servicing these parts will no longer suffice and you will have to look in to replacing or upgrading. Unfortunately, there are no Jeep parts that will last you a lifetime. There are products that will last you a long time, but there are none that are forever. Top-of-the-line parts will guarantee a much longer rate of service if you have the money to invest in them. These can be easily obtained in many locations.

Whatever part you may happen to need, the auto market will have it. Bumpers, body lifts, shocks, winches, wheels, exhaust systems and many other parts can be easily located on the auto market for mostly decent prices. The Jeep parts that are on the market will not only meet your replacement needs, but they may also upgrade the performance of your Jeep. You have the ability to make your Jeep as durable and reliable as you want.

Jeep parts can also be used to make your Jeep unique to all the others on the road. These can also be used to heighten the comfort and safety of your Jeep, which is very important if you take your Jeep off the beaten path on a regular basis. When buying Jeep items to improve the safety of your vehicle, you should always choose the best ones you can afford.

Al Carl

It usually doesn’t take the new owner long after getting their first Jeep to start thinking about making modifications. Owning a Jeep and self-modifying it seem to go hand in hand like owning a hot tub and soaking. You see other jeeps tooling down the road and they look so much more,..…well, Jeep-like. You know the look “Rough and ready to rock on!” A lot of first time owners may wonder, “What do I need to do to get that look?” Well you can give your vehicle that look with 4 modifications.

First, tires and wheels are a good place to start. Those stock tires are pretty wimpy looking and spicing up the tires and wheels goes a long way to making your Jeep take on a new appearance. You’ll want to consider if you’ll be installing a lift and how much of one before you jump on the tires. The bigger the lift the larger the tires you’ll be able to run. Tires and wheels might be a simple way to change the look of your rig, but they won’t be an inexpensive way to go. They can be downright costly! You’ll need to consider your Jeep use before investing. Is it a daily driver, purely an offroad vehicle, or a mix of the two? You’ll also want to consider how your Jeep is powered and geared. A number of folks place way too much rubber under their rig and then wonder why it doesn’t respond or have any pick-up! Hello, you just added a few hundred pounds of rubber; do you think that it will have an effect? If you go with large tires, you might need to upgrade your gears. There is a cause and effect at work here. How your Jeep is powered and how you use it should ultimately determine what wheel and tire package you select. Consult with your local offroad performance shop if you’re not sure or you need help. They should be able to steer you in the right direction.

Second, those stock bumpers really do need to go. Not only are they unimpressive, they simply will not stand up to an offroad beating! There are a ton of options out there from tube units to the rock crawler bombproof heavy-gauge block units. The finishes are wide and varied as well; stainless steel, black powder coated, titanium finish (the latest craze), etc. Bumpers seem to be made by everyone these days from small shops making custom units to major manufacturers like Warn, Warrior and ARB producing lines of them. So you have a ton of options! For me I’d stick with a well-known company that offers a warranty on its products. You know their bumpers have been tested, passed DOT regulations, and the company stands behind them for defects. You won’t get any of that from a local shop, and even if you do, who knows how long they’ll be around to support it? Warrior makes a good basic steel bumper along with tube units. Warn makes a nice Rock Crawler Bumper with an optional grille guard. And ARB makes a tube bumper they call a Bull Bar. All three companies are recognized for well-made products and they all have a very good reputation. I don’t think you can go wrong with one of their bumpers.

Third, lift that Jeep. Raising your Jeep gives it a better, hardier profile. It really makes a difference. You can lift it with a simple lift system like coil spacers or lift shackles. Or you can go with a body lift or, even bigger and better, a suspension lift. There are tons of options from style, manufacturer, and price to select from. So, do your research and be thorough before making a final decision.

Fourth, you’ve lifted your Jeep and have bigger tires, now it’ll look a whole lot better with bigger fender flares. The higher vehicle and larger tires scream for wider and more pronounced fender flares! The most popular these days seem to be the Bushwacker 6 inch extended fender flares. Their flares are made of a tough Dura-Flex material so they take a beating and are easy to maintain. They bolt on using existing factory drilled holes and come in a black matte finish that is easy to custom paint. Bushwacker backs them up with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Xenon and Bestop also make very good extended fender flares for your Jeep. Whichever flare you choose, your Jeep will look better with the extended type, and they’ll offer better protection against the flying debris from those larger tires.

With these four upgrades your Jeep will take on that rugged rock ready look. Don’t hesitate to contact a local performance offroad shop or a couple of them to ask questions and get input. The people at these shops are heavily involved in the sport of wheeling and they can offer some valuable insight into your options.
