Is There Hope For The Jeep Wrangler?
OK, i have three questions. One: why are there so many soccer moms driving the wrangler? It was made for people who have a love affair with there cars and a love for the outdoors/offroading, not for trips to the mall. I mean, we can’t expect them to understand the jeep wave. two: Are other car companies coping the wranglers design? Today i saw two cars that had the jeep like soft top. And three: are the new Jeeps made with too much plastic?

If you think about it, whether of not you like the four door (I have a 08′ 2dr jk) it was a great move by Jeep. I see the four doors everywhere! So yes it is disappointing to see soccer moms driving around a wrangler however Jeep did make a very smart move because when I went to go buy my 2dr in April, they were almost sold out of four doors.
Wrangler has the only 4 door convertible out there. I haven’t seen any new cars trying to look like the wrangler, however there were old kia sportages that had a soft top and maybe some old toyota’s but nothing as capable as a Jeep.
That is one thing I dislike about my new wrangler, there is a lot of plastic in the interior. Sometimes it makes me nervous because a lot of the soft top connections are made of plastic and in the summer I am always putting my top up and down.

I would assume that you are referring ot the Unlimited 4 door. Well, I feel that Jeep developed the 4 door to appeal to a broader customer base, which does include families and soccer moms. Although other car companies may try, they will NEVER beat the Wrangler. It is and always will be a classic, unless Jeep does something extremely radical and stupid with it, like independent suspension. Too much plastic? No. I have an 08 Wrangler X and it is no more plasticky than other vehicles out there.

the new wranglers are more sportier than the older one along with being bigger but the newer wranglers (no offense to any one that has one) do not look as rugged as the old ones ive heard that car companies are leaning more toward what the women want in a way that they design them to attract women, im not sure what other car companies are developing to rival the wrangler but none come close that ive seen there has always been soft tops on car, and even some SUV’s (some chevy k-5 blazers came with factory soft top) and yes pretty much the whole bodies of the newer ones are plastic i had a 02 wrangler that the only metal is the doors and hood

Soccer moms: the single worst demographic for wasting fuel and contributing to car-related global warming. Why do women think they need a huge beast getting 10 mpg to drive their child around?

What makes the difference if someone drives it to the mall or takes it to the sand dunes?I could never understand this kind of thinking,I have a TJ that I take 4 wheelin and get it muddy but my wife also takes it to the store and the mall. Why isn’t this vehicle meant to be driven to a mall?I don’t get it please explain that thinking to me.As for being to much plastic,I don’t see any more plastic in the new Wrangler then the old Wrangler. If you want to see a lot of plastic go look at a Toyota FJ.
Chrysler made the Wrangler with more comforts and options to appeal to a wider consumer, but I don’t think that makes the new Wrangler less rugged.I have gone 4 wheelin with a few people from work that own 4 door Wrangler’s and they performed great in the mud.You should see the Wrangler in the works for 2010 or 2011,it comes from the factory with 35 inch tires and 4.88 gears.
