Check your fuel pressure with a gauge and see if you are having a fluctuating pressure you may have a fuel pump going out or you may have blockage in fuel delivery. you could also have injectors that are plugged

is there any more symptoms? smells, fells like - reasons being this is so vague I could tell you a thousand things that would make it stall.
Check engine light? BTW they do this for free at the local parts store.
Back to basics. You need 3 things to get a engine started air, fuel, and spark. Of course there are alot of components involved in these very basic forms, I was hoping for more symptoms.

Very easy! I have owned my Cherokee since new in 1995 and it is approaching 260,000 miles, so I have some experience tinkering with it. You have one of two possible failures.
A) Crankshaft Position Sensor. Located at the top of the transmission bellhousing on the drivers side. A little trick to change, but doable by a semi-amatuer!
B) Camshaft Position Sensor. Located inside the Distributor. Easy to change.
Buy them both and carry a spare for the future under the back seat!
Later, Bruce
